The Historic Cemeteries of Penobscot
Hancock County, Maine

Join us as PHS Archivist and Member, Jon Albrecht, reviews a map of the many Penobscot cemeteries and discusses some of the more interesting memorials found within our small rural community.

With 73 cemeteries (71 of which are private ancient burial grounds) within 46.5 square miles, Penobscot has a rich burial history spanning almost two and a half centuries.

This event is open to the public and will be held at the Penobscot United Methodist Church. Free admission (donations accepted). Light refreshments will be provided. Bathroom on-site. Accessible ramp on the left side of the building, but no accessible parking (drop off only). On-site parking is limited.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Penobscot Historical Society, please bring a $10 cash/check membership fee to the meeting and speak to one of the PHS Officers before or after the event.
